Originally developed as a treatment for PTSD, EMDR is now used more widely to treat a variety of problems that have origins in difficult experiences that were not adequately processed by the brain, for any number of reasons. EMDR with me can be helpful if:
*You have patterns, difficulties, behaviors or feelings that seem rooted in past experiences
*You love working with your talk therapist, but need to supplement talk therapy with more focused trauma treatment
*You rationally understand why you do the things you do, but haven't been able to change your patterns
*You're ready to work intensely to finally and efficiently resolve your trauma
The unique nature of EMDR therapy makes it possible to move through significant amounts of traumatic material in a short amount of time, allowing the client to work intensively on a specific problem over the course of a few meetings, rather than several weeks or months of traditional weekly hour-long sessions. Not only can EMDR intensives bring quicker relief from symptoms, but they can also be cost effective and more convenient. An EMDR intensive might be helpful if
*You have a specific experience, event, or problem that you would like to address
*It seems difficult to fit weekly therapy into your schedule
*It feels like the perfect time to free yourself of a particular burden created by your past
* You are very interested in EMDR or have done EMDR work in the past but are having a hard time finding an EMDR therapist with availability
